TRAVEL ADVICE :)

Here is some IMPORTANT info to contemplate while finalizing your reservations for our wedding: (btw- this is in no way to scare you! obviously, Virginia City is amazing and well worth the rusticness or we wouldn't be having our wedding there!)

  • Tahoe house hotel: does not have air conditioning, most places in Virginia City don't, there are usually fans in the hallways.  Eddie and I will try to bring some fans up with us to lend if possible, but if you are worried about it, I would stop and pick one up in Reno before you drive up the mountain).
  • please double check your reservation to make sure your rooms comes with a full private bathroom.  Only 2 rooms do not.  We know who has one room, but not sure who has the other one.
  • The Tahoe House does offer complimentary continental breakfast in morning.  The caretaker, Theresa, will be happy to help you out with that when you get up in the morning.
  • TRAVEL ADVISORY: Yes, Virginia City is only a half hour away from Reno, but the drive up the mountain is extremely curvy, "switchbacks" for those of you who know what those are.  If you get motion sickness, I HIGHLY ADVICE you take dramamine and let it set in for about 1 half hour before departing up the mountain.  TRUST ME.
  • ATTIRE: NO HIGH HEELS! lol or at least only at your own risk. The walk ways of VC are actually boardwalks which are very uneven and easy to trip up on, even in comfortable walking/tennis shoes.  VC is not the most stroller friendly or mobility  impaired friendly. Please pack accordingly and dress for comfort. MEN please wear long pants and button up shirts for reception.  Ladies- It's a wedding so I assume you know to dress up just a little.  Other than that, bring loose, cool clothing for heat during the day and chilly mountain breezes at night.
  • There are NO 24 HOUR CONVENIENCE STORES, PHARMACIES, GAS STATIONS, ETC. Please pack what you need on a daily basis, including any and all meds, toiletries, bath and body needs, and special food needs.  You can pick these items up in Reno after you fly in before you drive up to Virginia City.
  • Virginia City is in the mountains! and it's very secluded! Lot's of stars and wild horses and at night the quiet can be deafening at first but it will quickly lull you to sleep.  Be aware of swelling from heat/travel/high altitude.
