Holistic Tricks & Treatments

I've been wanting to do this post for a long time now.  I want to show you guys what exactly I have tried as far as holistic treatments for my mental health.  I'll break down each product I'm using, how it does for me, and where you can buy your own. Don't forget to check the end of this blog post for a free giveaway through amazon!

TRICK OR TREAT!

  1. Gaia Golden Milk What is Golden Milk? Golden Milk is based on the traditional Ayurvedic recipe that has been savored for centuries and used to support the mind and body in a number of ways. What’s in Golden Milk? Turmeric, for sure! This warm yellow beverage takes its color from Turmeric, which we combine with other traditional Ayurvedic herbs like Black Pepper, Cardamom, Vanilla and Ashwagandha. Turmeric is a versatile herb that supports a healthy inflammatory response in the whole body while maintaining overall health and vitality. Turmeric offers whole-body support, with both antioxidant support and support for a healthy inflammatory response.  I have also read that studies have shown ingesting turmeric daily has had the same benefits for depression as a small doses of prozac.  Amazing!  To be honest, I have cut my SSRI (prozac for me) dose in half after including this in my daily diet.  I also found turmeric pill capsules from whole foods that I take when I don't have time to make the Golden Milk.  but taking time out to soothe myself with Golden Milk is part of it's appeal for me.
  2. Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides Collagen peptides promote youthful skin, healthier hair, and stronger nails, which I am always trying to help grow.  Having PCOS has caused my hair to grow much slower than I've been accustomed to.  and my hair has also become thinner.  Collagen helps my hair growth enough to make it worth it.  This is also a hot product right now for those who are trying the Keto Diet.
  3. Pharma-GABA I learned about this through a family member.  Actually I know a few people who use it, young and old alike.  It's a great, fast acting, way to calm nerves and lower blood pressure.  I even tried  testing my blood pressure a couple times over a series of days before and after taking this supplement.  and the proof was there in the numbers!  I view this as something alternative to taking Xanax.
  4. Bullet Proof XTC Oil Although the name looks like it, this isn't a lube.  It's brain fuel from natural healthy fats.  I read about it's use a year ago in Womens Health magazine and have been using it ever since.  I also use Vanilla flavored MCT oil in recipes that call for Vanilla Extract.
  5. Activated Charcoal Tabs I use activated charcoal in capsule form and in lemonade from Pressed Juicery.  It helps to cleanse my gut flora before I re-align it with pro-biotics.  I hear its also good for staving off a hangover.  I don't drink, but next time I decide to indulge, I'll give it a try and let you know what I think!
  6. Natural Vitality- Natural CALM- raspberry lemon YUM! I swear this stuff is fizzy and awesome like a candy drink.  and the Calming works!  It helps me when I am having anxiety attacks to calm my nerves and help me focus.  I love a product that can calm my nerves but also help me focus and not make me sleepy.  I take this with water everyday after lunch to help fuel myself through the rest of my day.
  7. Green Super Food- Energy- Lemon Lime This is another daily must that I mix with water.  I do eat vegetables everyday, usually carrots and celery during the day, and broccoli or cauliflower at night with dinner, but this helps me feel like I am really getting my greens in! and the natural energy it provides is so much smoother than caffeine.

  1. Fish Oil We all know good fat is healthy for our brains.  If you have flipped through any magazines in your doctor's office in the last five years, I'm sure you've read of the studies showing fish oil and it's preventative effects to alzheimers disease.  I don't know about you, but whenever I get my blood work done they always say I need a little bit more good cholesterol, or HDL (high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, also called "good" cholesterol) and these supplements seem to do the trick when getting those numbers where they need to be.
  2. Probiotics I love this brand of probiotics because they mix them into everyday needed vitamins.  I have used all different types of probiotics from shots to yogurts and pills.  I use these in the form of a pre-natal.  Killing two birds with one stone. or as I like to say, getting two birds stoned at once.   Holla to all my fellow TPB fans!
  3. Vegetarian Pre-Natals Yes, I take 2 pre-natal vitamins.  Might be over-kill.  However, I think that helping my fertility and over-all sex organ health is pretty darn important.
  4. Vitamin D Who here has heard of getting the good Vitamin "D" through sex? 😉😉😉 Vitamin D is food for you in SO many ways.  Fist of all, anyone who's got their blood work done recently (I get mine done several times per year, if you can't tell by obsession with blood work numbers), you may have noticed a low Vitamin D trend.  Not surprising since humans spend more time inside than ever and when we are outside, we are slathered in SPF.  Good for skin, but not for absorbing the Vitamin D we get naturally from the sun.  General recommendations call for 15 minutes daily of direct, non sun-blocked, sunlight daily.  Who stands outside for 15 minutes with out their make up on yet just to get vitamin D?! Well, unfortunately I don't, but it sounds like a good healthy habit to add to your self-care routine.  Bonus tip: we have a gland behind our foreheads that is made to release feel-good hormones when exposed to more sunlight.  This occurs in many species of the animal kingdom, including humans, and is said to be responsible for the rise of breeding that happens every spring.  Vitamin "D" indeed.
  5. Vitamin B STRESS RELEASE PLEASE!  Vitamin B is probably the first and foremost important supplement you should add for a brain healthy diet.  It's not a coincidence that many vitamin B bottles advertise their stress relief powers to catch our eye on pharmacy shelves.
