We are moving to Michigan! I never thought I would be moving back to Michigan again. I spent one amazing decade in San Francisco. but we are selling our house and moving on to bigger and better houses, and things! Plus I will be closer to my family and it's an overall better quality of life there. I used to think Michigan was boring and too podunk for me. Now I see it as family friendly, not as dirty or high cost of living, etc.
That's one of the main reasons that I haven't posted since last year, because we have been so busy and STRESSED OUT planning our move, getting a new job, selling our house, etc. It's been NUTS! (anybody watch 90 Day Fiance? Well I can't hear "This is NUTS!!" without thinking of the fight Molly and Luis got into about her owl decorations being witch craft. HA!)
By the way, if anyone is interested in a place to buy here in the Bay, you just gotta have half a million dollars and a desire to live in a one bedroom/one bathroom bachelor pad! Here's our listing crazy to see our house being shown like that. We are already getting offers but we have one more weekend of open houses. Here's a youtube video that our realtor put up too. You get extra bonus points if you can spot our bird Hazelnut in the listings!
Let's do some catching up! Shall we?
We had a wonderful holiday season here! My Momma came and visited for Halloween and we went to Disneyland! It was so much fun!
For Thanksgiving we had Eddie's parents here and we also spent time with friends here in San Francisco. We had Eddie's parents here for our fist Thanksgiving in our condo back in 2009! So It felt right to have them back again for our last Thanksgiving.
For Christmas, it was awkward because I didn't get out any of our Christmas decorations because we were already starting to pack for our move. We made it cozy and comfy anyway. I also didn't do my famous handmade holiday cards either. Our first holiday season in Michigan we are going to go all out to make up for it.
Early January, we celebrated Eddie's birthday by going to the Madonna Inn. I still have my check list of all the rooms and plan to go each time we visit California because I am not giving up on my goal to stay in every single room!
Also in January, Eddie's whole family came up for Eddie's Mason Installation where he turned the reigns over to our friend Rich to be the lodge's next Worshipful Master. I'm sure for most of you that doesn't mean much but it's a big honor. I think I need to do a post about the Free Masons and why we are so involved. TRIVIA: Did you know Eddie and I had the very first Masonic marriage ceremony in the entire United States?! It was definitely an experience for us and our guests. You'll probably never see a true Masonic wedding in your lifetime.
I focused really hard towards the end of last year to slowly and responsibly come off of all of my psychiatric meds because we are trying to conceive and I am happy to say I did it successfully! I am still on a low dose and pregnancy "safe" antidepressant but my main goal has been achieved. I am happiest of all to be completely xanax free because that stuff is honestly the devil. I have PCOS so we still have more hurdles to jump through as far as getting pregnant goes.
One of my big goals for this year is to start vlogging/youtube videos. I got a vlogging camera for Christmas and I am excited to start uploading stuff to my channel. I have some cool videos to edit from Madonna Inn.
I can't believe how blessed I am to be able to move back to Michigan with my wonderful husband and my beloved cat Peanut. As you may remember she was diagnosed one year ago with chronic renal failure and last January her kidneys crashed and we thought we were going to lose her! Luckily, her blood tests and symptoms have stayed static for a whole year now. It hit me really hard yesterday while watching movies in our hotel room that Peanut made this journey with me out here 10 years and now, thankfully, she is coming back to Michigan with me. I honestly still don't know what I am going to do when she leaves for heaven but that's another day.
For my Michigan friends, has anything changed in the last decade? Is there anything new I should know about as far as life in the great lakes?
