A Winter's Tale

The adventures of Eddie & Lindsay continues (see part 1, part 2, part 3, and part 4)

The winter of 2007/2008 was brutal.  It landed planes, caused death and damaged property.  We were, as a country, going through war and survival mode.  I was clueless to most of that except the parts that involved my relationship with Eddie.  I want to talk about his first visit here during winter and how a California boy handled all that snow. I have many cozy memories of sitting by the candle light in my princess bedroom and telling stories while the wind howled outside.

After our adventure at the Playboy Mansion (and saying "I Love You" to each other!) we were ready for more romantic times and adventures. In January of 2008, Eddie flew up to see me and the snow! We had cozy times in my home-town and of course had to make a Grand Rapids trip to go to Mulligans.  No arrests this time, thank God.  We stayed at a friends house.  Always interested in the macabre and spooky, we went to the infamous Ada Witch Cemetery before going back to Grand Haven.

Good pal Adria and I

I made us reservations at the cutest Bed & Breakfast (also where my Mom had a reception after a wedding to an incredible step-father, Scott) The Khardomah Lodge which most people say is haunted but you'll find more info on the cemetery across the street being spiritually active than the lodge. Since it was "off season" in our town (aka winter) then we got a great rate with a military discount and the entire place to ourselves.  We we're told we were going to be there alone the whole time so imagine our surprise when we heard the unmistakable sounds of heavy furniture being moved on the floor above us.  Super scary.  but we hung out anyway and sat in the hot tub outside our room while the snow fell around us.  Eddie had a cigar and we had cocktails too of course.  We also drove to Meijer and got a frozen pizza to bake in our kitchen suite and a case of miller lite. My absolute favorite beer at the time.  haha but back to the hot tub, we had such fond memories of that time that we vowed we'd have a hot tub if we ever moved to Michigan and that's exactly what we've done now! Now we look forward to Winter!

All though of course Eddie has been in snow before, in the mountains of California etc.  and he hates when I say "his first time in snow" but it was his first time in Lake Effect snow. So to me, he hadn't felt that heavy wet snow that is just so hard to shovel and walk through. It seemed like a novelty, to me at least, to have him brush off my car! and watching him drive in snow was just as enjoyable.  He kept skidding through stop signs although he said it was because his boots were hitting the gas and break at the same time in a my altima. Either way, we had a laugh.

We didn't go sledding or skiing or anything like that on his winter visit.  We do plan on it this season though! Now that we live in Northern Michigan we are looking forward to long winter walks, snowshoeing, and ice skating outside!  What are your favorite outdoor winter hobbies? We need all the ideas! I want to get as much working-out done as possible without having a gym membership because going to the gym is so boring compared to outdoor activities.

On a side note here- I'm having a week of non-inspiration.  With all the rain and gloomy weather and fertility stuff on top of that, inspiration has been hard to come by. I've been dealing with a daily sadness and on top of that, my therapist has been gone 3 long weeks. Thank God she comes back today and I have an appointment at 3pm.

I know I'm writing some pretty short blog posts lately but I know that will change soon.  My creativity Ebbs and flows.  Also we are spending a lot of quality time in our backyard making fires and grilling out and going for walks through the fall leaves. Decorating for Halloween as well.  I love to decorate my dollhouses for Halloween, which is a lot of work.  I'm just now getting my greenleaf pierce house filled with lights and furniture again.  Here's a sneak peak:

I'm working on two more blogs right now, one is about our vacation in Michigan with Eddie's family and the other is about different jobs I've had and ways I've made money with and without mental illness.  Which one should I post first?
