Remember the magical days of April 2020, when I was blogging everyday and we were like, best friends? Let's do that again! Let's catch up on everything going on. It's been a while!
Eddie and I are still on the fertility journey- kinda. We we're already considering halting the process because of how it expensive it was. We felt like we weren't sure how we could afford the average price of just giving birth in this country, let alone paying for college for a child! When the pandemic hit, we figured we should stop our routine visits for monthly ovary scans and medications. We still always had adoption in the back of our minds, but when I simply googled the average cost of adoption in the USA, I choked. People are out here getting knocked-up for free and we are supposed to pay $40-50,000?! That's terrible. Sometimes I wonder how people do it without going into massive debt. Having debt is terrifying and I don't ever want to experience it again. So, I'm not sure what to do next. It's really emotional for me and on days when I'm already having a hard time, the thought can bring me to tears. I know I'm not alone in this journey and that keeps me going. It's one of the hardest parts of my life.
I'm still making and posting cards to etsy-My first international order was sent to London a week or so ago! Very exciting! I've been working on taking photos of all the cards I'm making and also plan to spend many hours this upcoming week making mass amounts of Christmas cards to get ready for the holidays. It's so soothing to make happy things. Most of my cards incorporate things that give many of us joy; pizza, wine, house plants, friends and road trips. I makes me elated thinking that my little greeting cards are delivered into people's mailboxes and bringing them joy. I want to put things into this world that make people truly happy and nothing is better than a handmade card. Please visit my shop and let me know what you think!
Work is going great! I have an amazing boss who worked with me through my ALL insecurities (more on that in my previous blog posts about going back to work in a pandemic). I feel truly valued. I can't described how wonderful I feel working downtown in our small city among entrepreneurs and artists. It's truly inspiring.
Speaking of inspiring, I love how our community celebrated Pride and brought to attention the BLM movement and combined them together! I was lucky enough to work for a business that really embraces our LGBTQ+ community. I worked at the only retail store that acted as a place to purchase UpNorthPride yard signs who's proceeds go to help this non-profit. We also had a huge protest/demonstration in our small town that was for the most part hugely successful and peaceful. These are good starting points to making more change in our country.
Our backyard garden is blooming and we currently have tomatoes growing off the vine, along with cucumbers, lettuce, spinach, sweet corn, cucumbers, hot peppers and blackberries. We still get visits from the neighborhood cats to our water fountain for drinks. Sometimes we see bathing robins and blue jays. Bean is doing fantastic and so is our little zebra finch, Pistachio. I'm spending hours outside just because I can and it brings me immense joy. I'm very much into figuring out how to live this life as an empath and as a Highly Sensitive Person. Although, everything may look perfect from the outside, I am still very much suffering from anxiety and panic, as I posted about recently. I didn't let that episode hold me back from enjoying my time outside though. I was back at it again, making little miniature scenes in our yard and taking photos. Some of which you can see below and on my instagram stories.
I hope your summer is going well and that you're taking care of yourself! I'll see you back here again soon and thank you so much for stopping by!
