Welcome back to my Hallo-blog! I thought I would continue today going through my top rated blogs of all time. After blogging 5 years, I have so much content to share and some things I believe are worth looking at a 2nd time!
Holistic Tricks & Treatments was another Halloween-time blog that I published in October of 2018. I remember this one fondly because it was the first time I used my light box to take a photo for a blog and also it was the first give-away I hosted with Amazon! In this blog I go through a itemized and detailed list of all of the vitamins and supplements that I took at the time that help me with my over-all physical and mental health.
It's amazing to look back at all of the things I was trying to help better my health when in actuality, I could've done some larger life changes in order to really get to the root of the problems. Vitamins and supplements may help, and some do, but nothing has benefited my health more than therapy, a good psychiatrist and an overall stress free life. The only items on this list that I still use on a daily basis are vitamins B and D and pre-natals. And believe it or not, despite horrendous 2020 induced anxiety, I'm happier than I've ever been despite not taking all of these extra measures.
What are some things that I've added since then? Well, one thing that has changed is my introduction of medical marijuana into my life. Which I may not use on a daily basis but it sure has helped. I take some really good collagen and biotin pills which, both my stylist and I agree, have helped my hair growth immensely! (these pills are actually like gold to me, fellow PCOS cysters- don't sleep on these pills!)
I also want to mention another type of light box, but this one is for your happiness! Let me introduce you to my happy light! I would not be able to tolerate the winter times here in Northern Michigan, nor the year round fog in San Francisco, without my light therapy. It's getting to be that time of year again for many of us who experience Seasonal Affective Disorder. (that last link I just gave has a really good scientific research article about the benefits of using light therapy) This verilux brand light works really well and I use it every day.
Are you someone who experiences a cloudier disposition when the days get shorter? Because same. I don't know what it is, well maybe it's just everything this horrible year, but I've been feeling my energy zapped more than ever since last week. I'm so tired still and am craving that summer time energy I seemed to have. and I had random crying yesterday. I couldn't figure out why? Because I didn't want to go back to work?? Lol makes me sound like a child but yeah of course that gives me anxiety. I often think when I'm really depressed and so anxious that I cry because something inside me must be saying really mean things. It's that kind of negative mental dialogue in my subconscious that so many therapists have warned me about. It's not like I hear actual things that it says, I do know how mean that dialogue can be. It can just be brutal. These things make me feel like a pitiful loser. So sometimes when I cry for no reason, and I am feeling very sad without being able to pin point the cause, I say really nice things to myself because chances are I'm being negative deep inside places I don't even know about. When I closed out yesterday's blog mentioning the Sunday Scaries, I wasn't kidding. Yesterday was pretty scary at times. Despite an amazing marriage, idyllic life and beautiful autumn surroundings on pleasant Sunday walks- I can still get darn right frantic about the week ahead.
I hope any of these messages today can help you and make it feel like positive energy coffee for your soul! I'll see you back here tomorrow! PS I want my blog readers to be the first to know that I just marked everything down in my etsy shop! Took a couple dollars off the price of most things! Such good deals- especially if you are looking for handmade and frameable cards. Each one is like a keepsake! and a few of my favorite accessories- cherry hair clips, enamel pins and pretty earrings. The venetian lace masks are now only $5 each and I could still get you one by Halloween if you order now! Thank you for always supporting me!
