Welcome back foolish mortals! Continuing to celebrate my 5 year blog-aversary, today I'm going to feature my next top rated blog of all time. I hope you have your handcuffs ready!
This blog was published August of 2019 and tells the story of my first date with Eddie. If you know us then you know the story. The night we met was was quite the experience for both of us and luckily he knew I was a pretty normal person despite being arrested on our first date!
That's right. It was 2007 and I remember feeling so vindicated when Khloe Kardashian suffered the same fate as me, despite what I am sure are the difference in the costs of our lawyers. Unfortunately for Khloe, she wasn't also on a date with Eddie Sandmeier during his mid-tour leave from Iraq. but I was and we certainly are meant to be if we lasted through this!
I do understand that this story, though humorous, has a dark side to it that is no laughing manner. If you read the blog, and please do, I talk about what I went through and the deep shame over the stigma of being arrested. The fact of the matter is, despite my otherwise squeaky clean record, I put others in danger when I got behind the wheel that night. I never took that lightly. Just because I've never been to rehab or had more brushes with the law does not mean that I never had drinking problem. As much as I know how important it is to experiment and try new things when you are young, I also know how easy it can be to wrapped around the tradition of binge drinking. It's not pretty or cute or sexy and I am becoming more turned off by the lifestyle I lead during this time in my life than I ever thought I would be. I may speak more about my mental health crisis than anything else, but I've struggled with many types of issues and am always open to talking about more or being there for someone, despite their particular struggle.
What type of struggles do you feel don't get represented enough or get a bad rap? How about the whole "wine mom" culture that's so prominent? Any thoughts?
