Welcome back to Yule Blog! Hope you had wonderful solstice yesterday! Did you set any goals or intentions for the winter season? I've been working on trying to edit vlog for the first time ever and it's pretty hard! I'm thinking about putting just the raw video up. It doesn't need to be fancy. I mostly just wanted a way to to connect with my readers and chat. I know many of us still have several months of quarantine to get through before we all get the vaccine. It want to make video vlogs that aren't pretentious but down to earth like 2 friends chatting and catching up. I promise you guys will be the very first people to know once I put it up!
I thought today I would continue talking about skincare and products since it's something I'm extremely passionate about and love to shop for. These are some of my favorite types of blogs to read and to try new things. This is yesterday's health and beauty product blog so read this one first.
- Shiseido Benefiance Wrinkle Smoothing Eye Cream I have been using this eye cream since 2013 and will never use anything else. You guys, everything on my face ages dramatically this year (because 2020 sucks) except for my eyes because I use this cream sent from the Gods. I also used to feel like my eyelids were getting too wrinkly to work my eyeliner but this product put a hold on that process. I will never use anything else on my eyes, periodt.
- The Ordinary Marine Hyaluronics First of all, this brand is amazing and so affordable. and the nice glass bottles with droppers that they come in make me feel like a sexy scientist who should be wearing a lab coat. Slap this stuff on in more than usual during the drying winter season. Use a derma roller for extra indulgence. As many of you know, I recently started doing mortuary transport runs with my husband and sometimes we can be stuck standing around outside for a while in the harsh winter weather. I cover my face in this serum before adding moisturizer to protect my skin from the elements.
- The Ordinary Retinol 0.5% in Squalane This is another wintertime skin hack. I use prescription Retin-A but it can be pretty harsh and drying. When I still need retinol, which is almost daily, but already have dry skin, I use this product. It's super oily (hence the squalane) so I only use it at nighttime or if I'm not putting makeup on that day. It's also something I use closer to my eye area than I would use regular Retin-A cream. We all know retinols are amazing at anti-aging but the squalane oil gives it an extra kick of anti-inflammatory benefits.
- Grande Cosmetics Grande Lash MD When I was finally ready to spend money on eyelash serum instead of extensions and spending time on false lashes, I bought this serum and have never stopped. Upon moving to Northern Michigan last year, I prepared for a vacation to Disney World with my Momma and got myself some super nice eyelash extensions. They we're gorgeous. However, after returning from my vacation and getting a refill I developed a small infection. Yes, my eyelash extensions got infected. I'm not sure how or why (I believe it was from the lazy river style water attraction we lounged on which had a part where a water fall cascaded on to the tubers below. or maybe it was from flying. I've developed pinkeye after vacations a couple different times in my life. who knows?) Anyway, my eyes were puffy and crusty and in my fitful fever sleep, I pulled out all of my fake, and real, eyelashes on one eye. I immediately went back to the salon and they had to use oils to take the rest off. Never. Ever. Again. Will I get eyelash extensions. This serum makes my eyelashes just big enough to not have to wear falsies although I do suggest falsies for full glam.
- Youtheory Collagen Advanced with Vitamin C We all know beauty starts from the inside, right? Ok so first of all you need to drink water. A. Lot. Of. Water. I drink, and this is no exaggeration, approximately 10-12 18oz bottles of water a day. How? Well, having dry-mouth from psychiatric medications is partially to blame, but also use these bottles in rotation out of my fridge all. day. long. There's always a cold one for me to grab on the way out the door. Drink your water people!! (you can find these bottles, and my other recommended products on my amazon store sight) but let's get back to the collagen pills. Though there is no hard science to back this up, I swear on the bible that these have saved my hair from the devastating effects of PCOS caused hair loss. Although my hair may never have it's length and fullness back from my pre-ovarian cyst days, these pills have helped it come back from the brink of desolation. Circa 2018 I lost a great deal of hair and when I started using these pills, it slowly started coming back. I tried taking a break from them this last year to save money and my hair stylist noticed a HUGE difference. Once I started them back up and went to my next hair appointment 6 weeks later she had to ask if I was pregnant as she has only seen that much new hair growth in pregnant women. Spoiler- I wasn't pregnant but I did start taking my collagen pills. I also take these biotin babes for extra benefit.
