Yule Blog Day 27: Cozy Winter Things

Welcome back friends! We've been having a busy Christmas weekend here doing a little bit of work and a lotta bit of celebrating. I posted my very first vlog the other day on youtube and I'm so excited to make more. Here are some of the things I discuss in my first vlog:

In this video, at then end I talk about getting ready for a night out with my husband to run errands but I never got to continue my vlog as planned because we got a first call (that's funeral/mortuary terminology for getting call when someone passes away that you need to go pick up). We did however make it to the store after our job was done. Sort of like what I wrote about what happened on Christmas Eve

It's been quite the strange juxtaposition between bouts of holiday merriment and car trips to tragedies for work. I am so proud to be doing this job more than I've been of any other job. I'm still trying to get ahold of my therapist though because I want to make sure that I am dealing with this in a healthy way. It's been about 20 days since my last therapy appointment! A world record for me! I can't just let this pass by, as easy as it would be to avoid talking about hard things right now. I need to be proactive about my mental health. We all do.

This has been a really hard year for us all and many aren't coping as well with the loss of family, funds and friendship. Numbers of mental health crisis are on the rise here in the United States, as well as world wide. According the CDC:

During June 24–30, 2020, U.S. adults reported considerably elevated adverse mental health conditions associated with COVID-19. Younger adults, racial/ethnic minorities, essential workers, and unpaid adult caregivers reported having experienced disproportionately worse mental health outcomes, increased substance use, and elevated suicidal ideation.

And to think this was just a small study done in June. That was 6 months ago. Things are certainly harder for some people now than it was before. Let's just keep this in mind as we trudge through the holidays and look forward to ringing in the New Year. Check on your friends and family. Send messages of support. but most importantly, take really good care of yourself!

I'm keeping today's blog short as I'm working on editing and posting another vlog to my youtube channel. It's all about our cozy winter activities such as roasting chestnuts and burning our yule log! I hope you'll join us! Tomorrow I get my first Covid-19 booster vaccine and I can't wait to share my experience with you all! Don't forget to click on the advertisements in this blog- I appreciate it!
