Blogmas day 5: Returning to college in my deep 30s

Good morning! I'm so happy to be here with you this morning as I am feeling some panic disorder symptoms. If you suffer from this as well, then tomorrows podcast is perfect for you! More on this later.

I thought I would talk about what it's like being a returning college student in my deep 30s lol. On Tuesdays I have my 6-9pm statistics class at the Grand Valley State University campus in Allendale, Michigan. On Tuesday mornings, I wake up and either go to the gym or go for a hot girl walk. Then I have my omelet and bacon breakfast made my husband, Chef Eddie. I usually spend some time scrolling through social media while eating and maybe for a bit afterwards.

Then, it's time for my statistics tutor appointment and we go over my homework. Although I work with a tutor for all of my assignments, my professor has still graded many of my homework questions wrong this semester. He's extremely tough. It's definitely not been easy. I just cross my fingers and hope for the best.

Next, I pack all of my snacks and log them into my calorie tracker. I usually pack a baggy of almonds, beef jerky, and 2 hard boiled eggs. Sometimes I'll back myself something sweet to look forward to after class. I take a shower and curl my hair and put on a little bit of makeup. Just enough to boost my confidence a little and feel fresh and pretty! I pack my bag with my favorite stuffed animal, Sealy. This may seem childish but honestly it helps because I sometimes talk to him when I'm feeling anxious and he rides around with me everywhere and is always waiting for me when I get out of class! I load up my audible book for the ride and set off!

I arrive to school extra early to account for any traffic delays. I park in the designated commuter parking lot and walk 20 minutes to class. Once there I settle into a study area and break out my lap top to study.

Then class starts and I study and learn statistics for 3 hours straight! Hooray!

After class, I put on my favorite headphones to listen to my book or music on the long cold walk back to class. I call Eddie to tell him how class went. Sometimes I cry, sometimes I laugh, sometimes I'm really frustrated. Most of the time, I'm just. Plain. Tired. I eat my sweet treat and set off for the 3 hour ride back home to Traverse City!

What's the craziest thing you've ever done to accomplish a goal?? Let me know so we can bond over doing things the hard way!

See you guys back here tomorrow!
