I was so pleased this morning to realize Eddie was able to come with me again to this next beach. After going to the gym (it was arm day) we ate a quick breakfast and gathered our towels and tanning lotions. I am feeling much more like myself today and I am so relieved for that! It seems like every time I know that there are going to be changes coming in my life, my panic disorder flares up. However, after getting back into my routine, even for a couple of days- I started to feel right again. I recommend this if you are feeling out of sorts at all this summer. We can get thrown off our game by vacations, family visits, holidays…but I started going to the gym daily again after a couple of weeks off, making all of my food at home, tracking every calorie (it keeps me sane and feeling like I have control), morning writing and bible time and now I’m feeling better. Regardless of what happens next in our lives, I know I’lll be ok because I am God’s princess. And so are you.
We needed to make this a quick trip earlier in the day than usual because I have appointments in the afternoon. Today I have a recheck on my orthodontic work. Only 15 weeks left of Invisalign! We headed to go through some traffic to get here on the drive but it's well worth it. It is currently 84° outside and perfectly sunny with hardly any wind. There's a nice parking lot here and a playground with a swing set and I love to swing so I'll probably get on those before I leave. The first thing I thought when I got out of the car was that this place was nice! Very much a more urban feel than other beaches we have been to lately. This is more like a city park than a campground. There were just a couple of families with kids. What is it about kids in water that makes them scream? The sand was super soft and there were hardly any rocks. If you are rock hunting, this is not your beach. If you want soft sand, shallow water and a playground with picnic tables- this is definitely where you should go!
The weather is so hot today that it feels like the sun is blasting out harmonica music. We knew we had to get in for a swim today even if the water is a little chilly. We walked out forever on the soft sand bottom and never got very deep. As soon as I dunked my body in, I immediately had shivers and goosebumps but it felt so good! No wonder the kids swimming were shouting. After a short swim, I headed right for the swing set. Eddie followed behind and immediately started giving me a little push and I don’t think I’ve swung that high in years. This is really tapping into my inner child! I feel so free! The back and forth motion is giving me a major dopamine rush. Eddie snapped some photos of me and then I jumped off into the sand. The water from my body made a trail under where I was swinging. Then it was time to rotisserie my body a couple more times on the blanket to dry off. I know there is an ice cream parlor and Italian sandwich place across the street so we vow to come back later this summer and get a snack to bring to the beach.
I reminisced with Eddie about the malted milk shakes with cookie dough that my Grandpa used to get me when I was a kid. After my orthodontist visit, I stopped at target to get some frozen treats. I purchased some mochi balls (cookies and cream), frozen mango and I finally bought a bag of some of the frozen sour grapes everyone has been raving about called Fruit Riot. I had to dig all over the frozen section to find where they were. It seems they were all sold out, but I found one bag tucked away and snatched it. I was almost thinking someone was going to stop me and ask me where I found it! I think there were 2 other people looking for the same thing while I was shopping. The mochi was good and the sour candy grapes- AMAZING. They were so sour and I love sour candy. I highly recommend it. I may or may not have gotten some sour sugar of my own to put on my own fruit and freeze them. After my therapy appointment Eddie and I made burger bowls and went for our nightly walk. The sun was beaming down and playing that harmonica music again. Then we watched a movie, inside tonight because it’s now 90 degrees out. It’s been a fantastic day and it just goes to show that by getting up earlier than you want and working out first thing and then heading to the beach, you can turn your whole mood around! See you next time!
